TiO2–ZnO composites fabricated via sonication assisted with gelatin for potential use in Rhodamine B degradation

Herewith we report a facile synthesis of zinc oxide doped with (5, 10, 15 and 20 wt%) titanium nanocomposites in gelatin under ultra-sonication. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) data revealed the ZnO formation addition to rutile TiO2 phase. phase size decreased, while increased loading increment. scanning electron microscopy (SEM) displayed combination spherical hexagonal particles 60–80 nm distribution. photocatalytic activity prepared nanostructures was assisted using Rhodamine B dye, where they showed enhanced photodegradation competence visible light irradiation. kinetics followed first-order 20%wt sample showing maximum activity. mechanistic investigation dominance h+ ·O2− species during dye photodegradation. results indicate potential application such gelatin-stabilized for illumination from aqueous solutions sunlight.
